Introducing...

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and survived the shopping frenzy. I'm here with this week's challenge from Lasting Memories called Color Me Happy.  Here are the colors given for inspiration

And we were given a sketch to use if wanted.

I took purple, gold, a touch of yellow and the pink in the baby's picture to create this layout of my niece's newborn granddaughter.

Now it's your turn. Head on over to Lasting Memories to see what the rest of the design team has created for you. Then let us see your take on the challenge, linked by Saturday, 9 p.m. EST.  Can't wait to see what you make.

Sugar Island

It a new week and that brings a new challenge from Lasting Memories. This week is photo inspiration, and we have three different photos for you to choose from. I took my inspiration from the first photo - water and blue/green colors. My layout is from pictures my grandson took on  a visit to Sugar Island last month. When asked why he was taking so many pictures he replied "for grandma to scrapbook."

Now head on over to Lasting Memories and let us see your take on one of the photos. Link your layout by 9 p.m. Saturday. There is also a giveaway at Lasting Memories this week AND another DT member is having giveaways ALL WEEK on her blog!! Hurry over and check it all out.

My post today serves a double purpose. Not only is my project for day two of the All About Boys blog hop, it is also my design team project for Lasting Memories, where the challenge this week is hidden journaling.

My project is a layout of my grandson, who is a senior this year.  The journaling talks about how happy his mother was this spring when Nick let her pick out new clothes for him instead of his usual bluejeans and t-shirts. His one choice on his own was the hat, which he wears everyday.

Cardstock - Target
Paper - DCWV
Ribbon - my stash
Letters - Thickers
Bling - I-rock gems from Imaginise

My blog candy for one lucky person who comments is a scrapping tool kit. For FIVE extra entries submit a layout to Lasting Memories this week. I'll keep this open until 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 19th (the entry deadline at Lasting Memories.)

Now hop on over to see what the talented Lisa has created to show you.

Veteran's Day

One of my favorite parts of a Native American pow-wow is Grand Entry. In addition to recognizing tribe and country and all dancers,  it is also a time to honor those who have served. Veterans from all branches of service carry flags commemorating not only the various services, but also those missing and killed in action and those taken as prisoners of war.

Me 1952

One of the challenges at Scrappin-n-chattin this month is to make a layout of me only. I don't have a lot of pictures of myself, and many of those are with other people. So I decided to use a baby picture. I hated that circus wallpaper and was thrilled when my parents finally replaced at when I was six. A few months later they sold the house and we moved to a farm house which fortunately had no wallpaper. And why am I still alive? Didn't they know not to put a pillow in a crib back then?

The Paper Variety - Family Challenge

The challenge at The Paper Variety this week is to create a paper project that includes a family member's title or include the word "family." One of the challenges at Scrappin-n-chattin is to use a polaroid photo. I've had this photo hanging or tucked away in various places for over 30 years. It's time to give it a safe place in the family scrapbook album. The journaling talks about my father-in-law (Grandpa Nick) taking his first airplane trip to come visit us at Christmas in 1979.

Cardstock from recolletions; patterned paper and letters from colorbok; snowflake from my stash; journal tag fussy cut from Michael's $1 tags.

Yesterday

One of the challenges this month at Scrappin-n-chattin is to use the word today, tomorrow, yesterday, Monday, Tuesday, etc. I picked this picture because it shows my co-workers fourteen years ago. I'll be doing a "today" layout to go with this, just need to print out the picture.

On the farm - Lasting Memories

The challenge this week at Lasting Memories is earth tones and serpia photos. I made a layout of my grandmother's younger brothers and sister in the late 1920s. Photo was taken at my great-grandparent's farm in Wisconsin.

Supplies used:
cardstock - recollections
thickers from American Crafts (delight in red)
ribbon from May Arts
butterfly punches by Martha Stewart and EK Success

Come over to Lasting Memories, check what the rest of the design team has created and then link your creation and join the fun. Entries due by 9 p.m. EST on Saturday, Nov. 12th.

Stuck?! Sketches - Nick Nack

This is the November 1st challenge sketch at Stuck?! Sketches.

This layout contains pictures of my grandson Nick, a senior, at the Marching Band Festival. The musician to his left is also named Nick, a freshman. At band camp when the leader said Nick move to your left, both boys moved. So to tell the difference they started calling them Nick and Nack.
